STAN TALENT! STAN MY BOYS!
My Major Is
“Hi, my name is (insert here) and my major is (insert here).”
This is the standard format for most college students when asked to introduce themselves. I find this type of introduction so boring and stale. When the format is followed, it just feels like we’re giving away a business card instead of properly introductions ourselves. I know that most of us college students are just that, students, but I believe there is a lot more that defines us than just being a student. From preschool to college, you’ve invested at least 14 years into the education system and I’m pretty sure that in those 14 years, you’ve found something that defines you other than being a student. Of course in controlled environments where professors or teachers ask you that question, it is expected that you follow the format, but outside of the classroom and in our day to day interactions, I believe that there needs to be more substance in our introductions so people really get an actual feel for who we are and we ourselves know ourselves more and exude confidence in the first minutes of introductions ourselves.
Finding You
Sometimes I feel like a punching bag. Life loves to throw its jabs at me and in moments I feel like giving up. Sometimes I wonder, “Why not just go all the way and take my life?”
“If life loves picking on me so much then, I should just end my life so it will all end.” I believe that is the mindset that most people have when faced with the tests of life. This mindset is perfunctory. Life only picks on us. It pokes us and pushes our buttons, but it never takes from us. In a sense, we cannot let life push us all the way to the edge because in the end who wins? Life doesn’t win because you ended it and you don’t win because you don’t live. You can’t just let the trials and tribulations take the best of you. Life will not just stop picking on you if you end your life, it will begin to pick on those around you, those who love you, and those that know you. Life is picking on everybody and if you can’t accept the fact then you need a reality check.
not everything is about you and your problems. there are much more issues to be dealt with. not saying that your problems do not matter, but you need to stop putting so much weight on them and open your eyes to the thought that things aren’t as bad as it seems.
Take a moment to look at your blessings and the things that you do have in life and translate your energy into those. If there is something about your life that you did not like, change it. make a difference and find what truly makes you happy.
EASIER SAID THAN DONE. Exactly, so start now, because if you never start, then you will never change.
